Welcome to the Wedington Fire Department

 

As of February 1, 2005, Wedington is rated as an ISO Class 5 Fire Department.

Telephone:  We have an answering machine for messages when no one is at the station.  Your call will be returned as soon as possible.

  Firefighting: Who puts out fires?  Members who have volunteered as firefighters (both men and women). No one is paid for this; they simply believe in being good neighbors.  Several have trained at the Arkansas State Fire Academy in Camden.

Medical Aid: Our First Responders and EMTs (Rescue Unit) can’t answer medical calls directly, but they respond to medical emergencies when called by Central EMS.  They often arrive before the ambulance and give emergency care to the patient.  When the ambulance arrives they assist the paramedics.  If you need an ambulance dial 911.

 Auxiliary:  Mainly fundraisers – they hold an annual breakfast and supper to buy firefighting equipment or improvements for the station.  They take food and/or drinks to firefighters at lengthy fires and telephone members 2 or 3 times a year to inform them of coming events and projects.

Fire Training: 1st Monday  8:00am and 3rd Thursday 7:00pm

Auxiliary       4th Monday    7:00pm

Community Room: When not in use for a Fire Department function, the Community Room is available to members at no charge.  Please call the station (443-7802) to reserve a date and time.

 By-Laws: To reduce expenses we do not routinely send updated copies of By-Laws to every member.  If you want a copy of the current By-Laws, ask for one at the station.
