Many people know that when you call 911 for illness or injury an ambulance is sent to your location. This ambulance is staffed with emergency medical technicians(EMT) and they will stabilize and transport you to a hospital if needed. There are typically 2 EMTs: one Basic and one Paramedic. The fire departments in Washington County also send responders to gain access, assess, and give life saving treatment before the ambulance arrives. Thanks to many hungry neighbors! You made this Spaghetti Dinner Fundraiser a great success! A huge amount of spaghetti and yummy bread was served. Neighbors chatted, won prizes, and helped the fire department continue a great tradition of helping neighbors.

Now is a great time to check your home for fire safety! Check fire extinguishers for a manufacture date, if it is over 10 years, replace it! If it has a gauge or other indicator, check it. If you don’t have an extinguisher, purchase one! All fires start small, stop it small! Check your smoke detectors’ manufacture date also, they should be replaced per manufacturer instructions or every 10 years.

The time is near for another Country Breakfast fundraiser. Please join us for food and friends on September 29 from 6:00am to 11:00. Proceeds support the Fire Department.
Firefighters are called on when someone needs help, be it a fire or a rescue. Who do firefighters call for help? Other firefighters! One of our monthly training sessions for July was for those times. We practiced calling for help and different drag techniques. We also practiced quickly removing the bulky protective equipment we wear for fires, specifically to perform CPR.
Wedington responded an engine and tanker to assist Farmington with a house fire on March 10th. No one was injured but the house was severely damaged.
Wedington assisted Wheeler on a recreational vehicle fire on Sunday afternoon. The owner was checked by an ambulance for smoke inhalation. If you have a fire, please stay away and call 911. No cause has been determined.
