New Apparatus

The fire department recently took delivery of a new water tanker.  This tanker will replace a tanker which is older, has smaller tank size, and less engine power. The new tanker carries 2500 gallons of water, has a 500 gallons per minute pump, and has the ability to dump the water into a portable tank at a fire.  While there are hydrants in our area, these are too far from most structures to use directly.  Tankers are used to move large quantities of water to a…

2016 Spaghetti Dinner Fundraiser

We would like to thank the supporters that helped in so many ways to make this dinner a great success.  We served 314 dinners.  Thank you to the raffle prize donors, food donors, and community that attended. Automatic Aid and Mutual Aid

There is a long standing tradition of mutual support among most fire departments in the United States. In Washington County we have two ways this support can be requested. Mutual Aid is a request that is not automatic and needs to be requested by the asking department. Automatic Aid is just that, automatic. An agreement between the departments is written with requested aid for most types of incidents. Introductory Classes

There are three classes that a person needs to complete to be a volunteer firefighter in Arkansas. Intro to Firefighting – This gives basic knowledge such as organization of departments, fire science(how fires begin and how to extinguish them), basic methods to extinguish fire, and rescue victims. Personal Protective Equipment(PPE) – This gives basic knowledge on the equipment that firefighters wear and the breathing apparatus we use to survive in dangerous environments.
