Medical First Responders

Many people know that when you call 911 for illness or injury an ambulance is sent to your location. This ambulance is staffed with emergency medical technicians(EMT) and they will stabilize and transport you to a hospital if needed. There are typically 2 EMTs: one Basic and one Paramedic.

The fire departments in Washington County also send responders to gain access, assess, and give life saving treatment before the ambulance arrives. Many of these responders are trained to EMT-Basic standards.  Many more are trained in CPR and First Aid.  Wedington maintains a quick response pickup truck that is quicker and more nimble than a fire engine. This truck can carry 4 personnel along with oxygen, bandages, tourniquets, automatic external defibrillator (AED) and other equipment for rescue.
