Washington County is in need of a new radio communications system. The current system is more than 15 years old and can not be repaired if it fails do to damage or component failure. Medical First Responders

Many people know that when you call 911 for illness or injury an ambulance is sent to your location. This ambulance is staffed with emergency medical technicians(EMT) and they will stabilize and transport you to a hospital if needed. There are typically 2 EMTs: one Basic and one Paramedic. The fire departments in Washington County also send responders to gain access, assess, and give life saving treatment before the ambulance arrives. Check Your Fire Extinguishers and Smoke Detectors

Now is a great time to check your home for fire safety! Check fire extinguishers for a manufacture date, if it is over 10 years, replace it!  If it has a gauge or other indicator, check it.  If you don’t have an extinguisher, purchase one!  All fires start small, stop it small!   Check your smoke detectors’ manufacture date also, they should be replaced per manufacturer instructions  or every 10 years.
